BEGINNERS SPINNING - PART 2 - with Kathy Baschiera
Learn to spin on a spinning wheel ( treadle or e-spinner ), with Kathy Baschiera.
This class is a continuation from PART 1 - by now you will have had a bit of practice with drafting and spinning and be a little bit more confident. In this class you will be able to ask more meaningful questions and get some tips from Kathy on how to improve your technique. You will also learn how to ply your yarn.
Time: 12:30PM to 3:30PM
Location: Skein Machine Yarn Store, 3/276 Shepherds Hill Rd, Eden Hills, Adelaide, 5050
YOU WILL LEARN:
* Understanding how twist direction and angle affects plyed yarn.
* Understanding how Blending fibre works.
* Understanding different ways yarn can be constructed (gague/ply)
* Learn how to Ply yarn
* Learn to set your yarn after plying it (so its ready for knitting)
* Winding/Skeining Yarn for future use.
STUDENTS TO BRING:
* 1 standard sized bobbin ( to ply your yarn onto)
* 2 standard sized bobbins (with spun yarn on them suitable for plying)
* Lazy Kate suitable for 2 bobbins (can be improvised as explained in PART1)
* Spinning Wheel
* Fibre to continue practicing your spinning / plying techniques.
NOTE: If you are a member of the Adelaide Hand spinners Guild you may be able to hire a wheel to use for the class.
NOTE: You can purchase an Ashford wheel from us at Skein Machine however we will not normally have any in stock and therefore the wheel would need to be purchased a few weeks prior to a class in order for it to arrive in time.
