BEGINNERS SPINNING - PART 1 - with Kathy Baschiera
Learn to spin on a spinning wheel ( treadle or e-spinner ), with Kathy Baschiera.
This class is suitable for someone who already owns a spinning wheel but has not yet learned the basics of spinning. It is an "absolute beginners class". You will be given expert guidance from an experienced teacher who will help you understand the basics and get you started drafting and spinning yarn for the first time !
Location: Skein Machine Yarn Store, 3/276 Shepherds Hill Rd, Eden Hills, Adelaide, 5050
YOU WILL LEARN:
* The basic terminology/concepts related to spinning with a wheel
* Which fibres are best to use for a beginner
* Drafting
* Spinning
* Kathy will explain what equipment you need for PART 2 ( bobbins with spun yarn & lazy kate ) & How to improvise a lazy kate.
STUDENTS TO BRING:
* Spinning Wheel
* 100g of Fibre ( Bring your own TOP/Roving, must be washed/carded and ready to use ). Kathy's rovings are available to buy in-store on the day.
note: If you are a member of the Adelaide Hand spinners Guild you may be able to hire a wheel to use for the class.
NOTE: You can purchase an Ashford wheel from us at Skein Machine however we will not normally have any in stock and therefore the wheel would need to be purchased a few weeks prior to a class in order for it to arrive in time.
