DESCRIPTION
Fancy taking up weaving, but don't know where to start or are put off by all the technical stuff? Andy is here to provide you with essential instruction and guidance. You'll gain a solid understanding of the equipment and learn basic weaving techniques, giving you the confidence to embark on your weaving journey with assurance that you're headed in the right direction. AND you'll learn how to make something groovy that nobody else is wearing.
MATERIALS
* BYO rigid heddle table loom / Hire from the store ($30) eg. Ashford Sample-It / Knitters Loom.
* Yarn: bring whatever you have in your stash, minimum 8-ply, preferably 12-ply. You can also bring rags (cut into 1cm or 2 com strips), rovings, ribbons, etc.
NOTE: Limited Hire/Purchase is from the Store ( $30 to rent a loom from the store, If you decide to buy it at the end of the class the $30 is refunded ).
COURSE DETAILS
* Learn the basic terminology and parts of the loom
* Learn about yarn/fibre choice for projects
* Warping
* Winding the shuttle
* Learn to weave a simple project or a sampler
* Finishing your weave (removing from the loom and tying fringes)
(refreshments provided, please let us know in advance if you have any allergies or dietary requirements).
(NOTE: Courses are for 18yo+ unless otherwise specified, not all trainers are experienced/comfortable working with children. There are also government compliance checks WWCC required for trainers who do work with children, only trainers who have valid WWCC checks are permitted to teach children under the age of 18 years.).
