Cicadas have been featured in literature since the time of Homer's Iliad, and as motifs in art as early as the Chinese Shang dynasty. They have been referenced in myths and folklore to represent carefree living, immortality., as well as rejuvenation and re-invention.  This brooch is exquisitely crafted with a sturdy hand-made brass clasp/fixture.
