Fair Isle Crochet with RETRO NANNA (14yo+)
FAIR ISLE CROCHET CLASS with RETRO NANNA (14yo+)
Location: Skein Machine Yarn Store
3/276 Shepherds Hill Rd, Eden Hills, Adelaide, 5050
What is Fair Isle Crochet:
Fair Isle crochet is a stranded colorwork technique adapted from traditional Scottish knitting.
It can have two or multiple yarn colours per row, carrying the inactive colour loosely behind the stitches as "floats" rather than trapping it inside them. This creates crisp, clean colour changes, a lighter fabric, and distinct right and wrong sides.
Prerequisite: This is an intermediate-level class. Students should have a solid foundation in basic crochet techniques. If you have already explored specialized styles like Mosaic, Tunisian, or Brioche crochet, you are perfectly prepared to learn Fair Isle. Not suitable for beginners.
The Course Includes:
- Training
- Instruction booklet
Student to supply:
- 6.5mm hook with a tapered head (available from Skein Machine)
- 8 ply yarn - two high contrasting colours eg white plus another colour. 20gms of each. Yarn ideally is high twist. NOTE: Recommended is Skein Machine's "McLaren Yarn" which is high twist and very easy to work with.
- Crochet notions.
I look forward to meeting you and sharing my crochet experience in each class with you. ! Cheers,
Jane ( RETRO NANNA )
