This pattern is very special to me. The art work was designed by my daughter on a Dad/Daughter chill afternoon while watching a movie. I am very proud of her.

This is a shawl created with shadow knitting. The rose has a lot of contrast with the design biased to one side of the shawl. An added bonus when you wear it, the patten is not always visible but the colours look like there moving as you do.

Of course you can always say it with flowers

The yarn I used in the shawl pictured was Fiori Merino DKIV yarn (100% Australian Hand Dyed Merino). Colours were Jasmin Splash (the light colour) and Crushed Cherry, of course you can use any two colours with a contrast. Check out our yarn store for this and other colours and yarns (subject to availability).

We also produce kits (yarn and pattern) from time to time which are great as a gift, or a treat for yourself. See out kits page to see what we have in stock. If there is a specific colours you would like in your kit, please contact us and we will arrange for you (subject to stock availability).

Shadow knitting involves knit and purl, there is no actual colour work or floats to content with. It can be easily completed by any level of knitter, even if your a beginner.

The Pattern: The pattern has information, general instruction on colour choice and even if you want to change the shape of the shawl. There are written instruction or a chart to follow, which ever you prefer. With this design we give you a repeat of the pattern and hoe you use it.

Stitches: Knit, Purl, Cast on (8 stitches), Cast off (8 stitches). Edging, which you make as you knit the shawl, requires you to knit two together and yarn overs.

Materials: You need approximately 350g of 2 colours (700g in total and 1400m) . Help to pick your colours is included in the pattern. I used 8ply / DK yarn for this project. You can use any yarn but it will alter the size and the amount of yarn used. I used a 3.5mm circular needle, 120cm. You can use smaller if you want more definition.
