PREPARING FLEECE WORKSHOP - with Andy Barrett
Time: 12:30PM to 3:30PM
Location: Skein Machine Yarn Store, 3/276 Shepherds Hill Rd, Eden Hills, Adelaide, 5050
ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS CLASS:
Objective: learn how to scour / clean, card and spin sheep and alpaca fleece. Then create your own rolag from previously prepared sheep and alpaca fleece, ready for spinning.
Skills required: basic spinning (drop spindle, e-spinner or wheel) and plying.
Time: 3 hours
- Andy will demonstrate how to Scour & Clean fleece
- As well as carding via hand carders and a drum carder.
- Students will practice carding and creating "rolags" from hand carders
- Students will spin yarn directly from the rolag they created themselves
STUDENTS TO SUPPLY: Spindle (top whorl, bottom whorl or Turkish) of between 25g and 45g or ( e-spinner or small portable treadle ) ( note: All fiber provided )
NOTE: BYO Spindle or purchase one in the store on the day.

(NOTE: Courses are for 18yo+ unless otherwise specified, not all trainers are experienced/comfortable working with children. There are also government compliance checks WWCC required for trainers who do work with children, only trainers who have valid WWCC checks are permitted to teach children under the age of 18 years.).
